This project is part of my work as a UX Designer at Jungle Minds. I was responsible within this project for: UX Design, Concept Development and User Testing.
Elderly care has been changing a lot in the last few years. On the one hand, the population is aging, health care is getting more expensive and there’s more pressure in this field of work. On the other hand, there’s a lot of technological developments and people have certain expectations of the ease of use and (self-)service of products. All this results in a growing health care gap.
De Duurzame Coalitie wants to narrow this health care gap. They intend to do this in a couple of different ways. One of them is introducing a new role within the health care landscape, being the levenreiscoach. This role will support elderly (levensreizigers) to keep living at home and stay in control of their life themselves.
An essential part of the levenreiscoach will be to monitor the wellbeing of the levensreizigers. This will be done by using Positive Health as a base of their conversations together. Positive Health is a method that allows one to look at a situation holistically, this way the levensreiscoach can step out of the traditional ‘health care view’ of the situation and can be there as a coach, working towards solutions together with the levensreiziger.
Coaching someone holistically calls for a guide. A guide that allows the levenreiscoach to monitor the situation, without having to spend hours on documenting everything. Finding this balance was one of the things that we focussed on during our research with potential levenesreiscoaches. Something that became very clear from these conversations, is that the levensreiziger should always be the starting point of anything that we’re going to develop. This may sound obvious, but it’s something that gets lost along the way in this industry, especially if technology is involved.
We’ve developed and tested a prototype to research what these potential levensreiscoaches would need to be able to do their job. The prototype is really designed as a research tool, to lead the conversations. By doing this we now have a clear idea of what kind of information is relevant in that role and in what stage.
